Process: Candy Crush Saga Fanart

Candy Crush is a popular game right now that appeals to both young and old. With it's simple yet addictive gameplay, it's a game you really would remember.

My mom really loves this game. It's bright, happy and one day I just thought about a story for it - and so the fanart unfolds..

Step 1: The Drawing

On a sketchpad, I drew this sketch of a girl giving this guy a lollipop. With a scanner, let's scan the sketch and open it on Photoshop.

Step 2: The Coloring

With the pen tool, I then proceeded to create shape layers to fill in a solid color to the young girl.

And then I add the shadows. Also using the pen tool, I create a new shape layer with a darker shade above the colors, and add a clipping mask and layer mask. You can learn about those here

The facial features. Same process.

A closer look on the layers. You can see those arrows represent the clipping mask, and the white squares are the layer masks.

Now for the guy. He's wearing a black hoodie, and I also gave him this black headband.

Layer masks and clipping masks. :)

The facial features. He looks surprised! Why would a girl give him some candy anyway?
Kinda sweet, isn't it?

Hope This Makes You Happy

And here is the finished art! Not the best out there, but hope you like it anyway.

I did the same process to make the background, except using brushes to add the light effects, and then adding some shadows to imitate the style of the Candy Crush artwork.

It's entitled "Hope This Makes You Happy".  Just a call to help us make someone else's day brighter!

Thanks for reading!
